Starting Solids

When your baby starts sitting up on their own, brings hands to their mouth, and shows interest in your food, it might be time to start transitioning to solid food. Breastmilk and/or formula will remain the main source of nutrition until around 1 year of age, but the goal of starting solid foods (once ready) is to slowly start exposing your child to new flavors, textures and experiences with foods, while building feeding skills.
